Vitas Jordan is committed to being socially responsible towards the communities where we work and serving our clients in ways that go beyond their financial needs. To that end, in 2009 Vitas Jordan entered a group contract with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation’s (KHCF) “Friends and Health Care Program.” As part of the company’s support for the KHCF, Vitas created a donation fund in each of its branches, to spread awareness about cancer and KHCF services at a local level all across the Kingdom. Vitas Jordan regularly participates in health-related community activities and events held by the Foundation.

Vitas is proud to have this partnership and looks forward to the continued growth of the KHCF, and the support it provides to people who work on providing the ultimate care for all cancer patients.

Partnering for hope is what we stand for and what we are eager to maintain. For more information about King Hussein Cancer Foundation, please follow the links below or visit us at your nearest branch.

Sherkitna

At the core of Vitas Jordan is a commitment to provide solutions that will help people improve their lives and achieve their dreams. Inspired by this, Vitas Jordan has partnered with the Sherkitna initiative run by the Al-Joud Institution for Scientific Care and Development to teach business skills to a new generation of entrepreneurs.

Sherkitna aims to sow the seeds of entrepreneurship in the hearts of high school students by providing participating youth with 200 Dinars in start-up capital to fund small collaborative projects. Along with this capital, students receive an introduction to basic business skills through trainings, supervision and a mentor’s guidance, all of which help them identify the basic elements and principles of a successful project.

Through this partnership, Vitas Jordan has provided funding to 30 governmental schools across the Kingdom to date and looks forward to providing continual support for the initiative, and the students whose dreams will shape a brighter future for the generations to come.

Vision

All people with a desire and capacity to improve their lives should have access to the financial services they need to help them realize their potential and become full social and economic participants in their communities.

Mission

To provide financial products and services that respond to our clients’ needs and foster the long-term development of individuals, their businesses, their families and the communities in which they live.

Vitas Jordan has grown since 1998, when it started as a program of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) and USAID, designed to bring microfinance to the residents of Southern Jordan. In response to the great demand that came out of these communities, the program transformed into a permanent institution, MEMCC (Middle East Micro Credit Company), which has served people in need across the entire country since 2003. To learn more about why MEMCC has become Vitas, click here to see our Customer Charter.

Vitas Jordan originated as a continuation of the 1998 Cooperative Agreement signed between Global Communities (formerly CHF International) and USAID to establish the Southern Jordan Access to Credit Project (SJACP). The purpose of the project was to provide microfinance lending services to the residents of the southern Governorates of Jordan over a period of five years, as well as building an interactive capacity with the formal financial institutions through risk-sharing partnerships with commercial banks. In response to the local community needs, the vision of transforming the project into a sustainable local corporate entity was finally realized, culminating with the registration of MEMCC (Middle East Micro Credit Company) as a Limited Liability Non-Profit Company in January 2003. While MEMCC has achieved much in its 10 years, we feel that it is no longer the right structure to keep up with the growing and changing needs of our clients. To position ourselves to make a more lasting impact as we grow, MEMCC has joined the Vitas Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Global Communities. With this move, MEMCC becomes “Vitas Jordan” in name and in values, but still remains true to its founding purpose: to make a difference in our communities by bringing financial opportunities to those who are not well-served by traditional banks or lenders. Vitas Jordan has the privilege of serving over 21,000 clients across Jordan. As we move forward, we renew our commitment to fulfill these clients’ needs. We constantly strive to live up to their expectations on all levels –in keeping up with their life changes, in making their lives easier, and in and providing comfortable and easy financial solutions that enable them to become self-sufficient and great contributors to the growth of their communities. Our clients represent our highest priority, so Vitas Jordan remains committed to keeping in constant communication with our clients dedicated and understanding to their surrounding conditions, we always keep in mind our role in being proactive to fulfill the exact need our client desires, we also dig deep to find the hidden potential of our clients to make the best out of their experience opening new endeavors and creating promising future opportunities for them.

Randa Shraim

It all started back in 2011 when Randa’s family was facing some financial troubles and other hard conditions as her husband became unemployed. Randa was willing and determined to work in anything just to have a decent income for the family, so she started baby sitting for a few children at her house. It was when she decided to create some small souvenirs for their parents that the idea of a new project hit her: she produced her first item -- some small baby shoes -- out of recycled newspapers that she colored with natural ingredients, since she couldn’t afford to buy raw crafts materials. The parents admired the souvenirs, and step by step she started receiving special requests for different household goods. Through these orders, she found that she could produce more artistic items, but she also found that this would require her to grow. She heard about Vitas Jordan (then MEMCC) through a friend, and applied for her first loan in March 2011 to get the financial support she needed to expand her product line. Over the next two years, Randa took four loans with a total of 2500 JDs and was able to make all the repayments through the income from her work alone -- her business has boomed. Not only has she grown bigger, but she has also discovered the hidden artist inside her that she had never known, and a new passion for helping reduce waste: the main theme of her work is “environment friendly” and she uses only recycled material in her crafts (plastic, glass, paper and different types of metal).

Dalal Abu-Shashieh

Dalal is the mother of five children and the only financial provider for them. However she is a skilled woman in many areas and has a great talent for sewing and embroidery, which has gained her high recognition in her community for the beautiful embroidered dresses she creates. Dalal began dealing with Vitas Jordan in 2012 when she benefited from a loan of 1100 JDs in order to buy raw materials to help her produce a variety of goods and products. Her business was so successful that today Dalal participates regularly in workshops and bazaars, and has even been honored by Her Highness Princess Basma in one of Her Highness’s galleries. Dalal is much more confident in her work now and feels proud of what she has achieved. As a result, she also shares her experience and helps other women in her community by teaching them handicrafts skills and other techniques through a local community organization where she volunteers. “One day you’ll be invited to my own gallery,” Dalal says after indicating that she is about to have her second loan to start a big project and her own gallery.

Elham AL-Nasser

Elham is a young lady who lives in Al Hashmi and like the majority of the population, she tired of an endless job search. With her makeup and hair styling skills, Elham got the idea of starting her own business. Elham started to deal with Vitas Jordan in 2009; she used her first loan to buy new salon equipment and beauty products. During the early stage of her business with one service chair serving one customer at a time, it was very difficult to meet the growing demands of her customers; this encouraged her to renew her loan. Today Elham is capable of serving more than two customers at a time and she also has redecorated the salon and extended it to include a small beauty center.
Elham says what she likes most about Vitas Jordan is their understanding of their clients’ conditions - that they take each person's case as unique. Now her salon is doing steady business and she says things have never been better!

Mohammad Al Safadi

After graduating from university, fresh graduates usually look for jobs to build their careers and provide themselves and their future families with reasonable income that enables them to have decent lives. Unfortunately this is not always possible, if high unemployment rates stand in their way. Mohammad, a young man who lives in Jerash, decided to divert his job-seeking efforts into efforts to start his own business. Mohammad opened a printing house that serves Jerash city, providing print and advertising services to local individuals and businesses. Early in 2012 Mohammed became a client at Vitas Jordan, starting with a loan of 1000 JDs to fund his project. Currently, his printing house is one of the most productive places in Jerash city and he looks forward to expand his business outside Jerash to serve more areas, grow his work and provide different job opportunities to other people in his community.

Sa'eed Atallah Abu-Seer

Vitas Jordan aims to offer financial services that come in line with its customers’ needs, so for that reason Vitas varies loans from one client to another to meet their needs and expectations. One of these clients is Sa’eed Atallah the owner of a small dessert shop in the center of AL-Hashmi area. Sa’eed became a Vitas client when he decided that it was time to polish and improve his shop a bit; he started with a loan of 1000JDs, bought an ice cream freezer and a juice maker and changed the decorations. “You start small but you dream big,” Sa’eed says, as he discusses his dream of starting a series of branches for his successful dessert shop. Sa’eed explains that what encourages him to continue dealing with Vitas Jordan is the ease of the transactions and procedures and the knowledge that Vitas' financial services just might make his big dream come true.
